Batchwood Hall’s Teresa Wood lost 21-15 to Hatfield's Kath Cottington in the St Albans ladies district finals.
In the final of the champion of champion event Cottington found the green quickly and built a lead of 12 shots. Wood then won the mat and fought back to be only three shots down.
Cottington regained the mat and sent up a shorter jack and went on to win the match by six shots.
Nora Endericks and Kate Horner of Batchwood lost in the final of the Australian Pairs to Judy West and Sheila Roberts of Harperbury.
The duo won the first set but the opposition won the second set and went on to win the tie-break by two shots to nil.
The friendly match of Batchwood men away to Potten End proved to be an enjoyable afternoon.
On this occasion the home side came out on top winning on four of the five rinks to seal a 127-86 victory. Top rink was Dennis Garrick, Peter Coxall, Stan Kemp and Don Gould (22-20).
Batchwood’s last mid-week friendly of the 2012 season was away to Townsend.
The side lost on all five rinks, albeit narrowly on three of them as Townsend won 120-86. The best rink was of Bill Bennett, Stan Endericks, Adrian Baddams and John Harvey, losing by just one shot.
Top rinks for Townsend were those of Roger Potter, who, along with Derek Smith, John Pearce and David Day, won by 21 shots to 12, and Mike Cowell, whose rink consisted of Alan Tucker, Ron Seymour, and Tony Izzard, and who won by 28 shots to 12.
The final match of the season for Batchwood ended on a high note, with a win against Hemel Hempstead on a pleasant sunny afternoon. Batchwood won on three of the five rinks with one drawn and losing on one as they defeated Hemel Hempstead 110-90.
Top rink was Roy Flack, Mac McGregor, Stan Kemp and John Harvey (28-16).
Batchwood Ladies finished the season winning the final district league match away to Potters Bar by winning on one rink and drawing on the other two. Top Rink was June Head, Claire Taylor, Tricia Brady and Barbara Palmer (25-14).
As a result Batchwood Ladies finished second in the District League competition, despite playing every game away this season.
Dunstable hosted a mixed match against Batchwood with both teams winning two rinks each but Batchwood won overall 72-71.
Top rink was June Head, Vera Baddams, Ken Bridger and Barbara Palmer.
