Harpenden Town ended their South Midlands Division One campaign with a 3-1 win at Amersham on Saturday.
The result puts Harprenden sixth in the table on 70 points with 20 wins and ten draws from 40 matches.
Manager Danny Plumb said: “The whole team showed great character today. We had so many players away or injured so I was really pleased the youngsters came though and ended the season with a win.
“Seventy points is great but I would rather we had taken promotion.
“Now we will work on our consistency for next year with hopefully a more stable squad.”
Chairman Roman Motyczak said: “It has been frustrating considering we topped the league in September and lost a bit of momentum over the winter otherwise we could have been in the top three but I have nothing but praise for the players who gave everything all season.
“Only this week we started a £100,000 refurbishment of our clubhouse and work is continuing to improve the pitch. Harpenden Town is a credit to our town.”
Tom Collins fired home the opener after ten minutes before Amersham grabbed an equaliser through Wahid Rashid.
Ryan Plowright scored a stunning 30-yard strike which restored Harpenden’s lead at the start of the second half. Another fine strike from Plowright ensured Town ended with a win.
