London Colney extended their unbeaten run to 20 South Midlands Premier Division games after a 2-0 win over third-placed Sun Sports on Saturday.
The Blueboys have soared up to second in the table after their excellent form and were too strong for Sun Sports in their latest encounter London Colney suffered an early scare when Nathan Pooley smashed a long range effort against the crossbar.
The hosts’ first chance fell to Matt Jarvis but his effort inside the six-yard box was blocked.
James Ewington also had an opportunity but his low shot was saved by Ross Hampton.
Debutant London Colney goalkeeper Bart Pedrycz produced a confident performance dealing with all the visitors’ efforts.
The opening goal came after 33 minutes when Dan Power slipped the ball to Martin Collins and he found Ewington who curled a shot into the net from the edge of the area.
It was nearly 2-0 when Ewington set up Jack Woods and his cracking strike flashed past Hampton's right-hand post.
But the hosts were awarded a penalty when Ewington was tripped in the area by Gary Wallace. Greg Shaw fired past Hampton to extend the Bluebirds’ lead.
Pedrycz was called into action to save a Gary Wallace header.
Sun Sports should have pulled one back in the second half through Wallace but his strike flashed across the goal.
Shaw almost added another goal but his fierce shot was tipped over by Hampton.
The Blueboys nearly rounded off the win with a stunning 35-yard effort from Paul Armstrong but it brushed against the top of the bar.
