Pupils in St Albans had the chance to learn more about the House of Lords when a baroness visited their school.
Molly Meacher gave a lecture at Verulam School in Brampton Road on Friday.
She spoke to students about what the House of Lords does and her role within it.
Paul Ramsey, headteacher at the school, said: “This was a fantastic opportunity for our students to interact with someone who knows the parliamentary system inside out, as it can sometimes seem far removed from their daily lives.”
The lecture was organised at part of the Lord Speaker’s Peers in Schools programme, which was set up in 2007 to support the citizenship in the curriculum.
