A supermarket in Harpenden is encouraging residents to help tackle food poverty this weekend.
Sainsbury’s has teamed with national hunger tackling charity FareShare to take part in the second-annual Million Meal Appeal.
Staff at the shop are asking residents to take part in a food-drive by choosing to donate items from a shopping list consisting of various long-life products by placing them in a collection box after checkout.
Local volunteers from FareShare will be assisting the appeal, which last year amassed 1.2 million meals.
Lindsay Boswell, CEO, FareShare said: “I hope many Sainsbury’s Harpenden customers can support the appeal and help us to provide even more food to the charities and community projects we support across the country.”
