Elderly people living in St Albans had the opportunity to find out about the different activities on offer to them at an open day.
More than 120 residents visited the Town Hall on Monday to celebrate national Older People’s Day.
Drama, belly dancing and painting are just some of the activities offered across the district.
The event was also used to launch the new Older People’s Forum which has been set up by St Albans District council.
It will give elderly people the chance to have their say about decisions that could affect their quality of life.
Councillor Brian Ellis, portfolio holder for housing at the council, said: "The Older People’s Forum will help focus the council’s attention on the needs and views of older residents.
"This week’s event was an important prelude to this.
"It showcased the great number of high quality activities and events on offer in the district of particular interest to older people.
"It was also an opportunity to ask local people what issues they would like to see considered by the Older People’s Forum beginning in December."
The first meeting of the forum will be held in Harpenden Park Hall on December 6.
