Almost a year ago the Borough Council announced that Phase One of Hatfield's much reduced town centre redevelopment would start in the Autumn. Well, Autumn has well and truly arrived but there is still no word from the Borough Council as to when work proper, will begin.
As our photo shows, the former Bill Salmon site still lays untouched. However, the former Simmons shop at the eastern end of The Arcade has already been vacated and, opposite it, the VFM shop will be closing for business this coming weekend. This is because both premises are to be redeveloped.
But there doesn't seem to be much expectation among town centre users as
Mrs Ivy Randall said "I'll believe it when I see it"
