A man is in hospital following a serious assault in a road in St Albans.
The 27-year-old man was attacked by a group of men near the railway bridge in Victoria Street between 2am and 2.45am on Sunday, September 23.
He was left with injuries to his legs.
Hertfordshire Constabulary are appealing for information to help with their investigation into the assault.
Detective Constable Andy Greenman from the Local Crime Unit, said: “This was a particularly nasty assault which occurred in the road causing the traffic to stop.
“We are aware that another person was assaulted moments before this, also in the middle of Victoria Street which also caused traffic to come to a standstill.
“I would like to appeal to the victim of the first assault, anyone else who was in the area at the time and saw what happened or anyone who has any information about the assaults to contact police.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact the police on the non-emergency number 101 or by called Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
