A national charity is looking for volunteers in St Albans and Harpenden to help it continue its successful work in the district.

The local branch of the Samaritans needs new listeners to join the team.

Elisabeth Grover, the branch’s newly-appointed director, said: "Working as a Samaritan is a great way of developing personal life skills and reaching out to others.

"It can be challenging but it really helps you to reflect on life in a very different way.

"I find the work that we do deeply moving and I hope that others will be inspired to get in touch."
