Firefighters are to hold car safety demonstrations this morning (Friday) to encourage young people in St Albans to drive safely on the roads.
St Albans fire station will open its doors to sixth form students from the Samuel Ryder Academy, in Drakes Drive, to teach them about car road safety and how to avoid road accidents.
The pupils will be shown short video clips of car accidents and a demonstration of a car being cut, like seen in a road crash.
Tony Bates, watch commander, said: “They are the people who will be going out and driving and we are the people that come to help when there has been an accident.
“It is important they know how to be safe and what the situation would be like if they were to be involved in an accident.
“This will involve showing the pupils a car when it has been cut up, like in a crash."
