Youngsters can enjoy a new brand new zipwire and swing at the play area in Rothamsted Park.

The park in Harpenden has received a boost this month, after a joint project by Harpenden Town Council and St Albans District Council has meant children can now take advantage of new play area equipment.

The zipwire and swing were installed at the start of the month, following the town council’s Voice Your Choice initiative, where residents voted for various projects in the town.

Sandra McGroarty, a resident who was keen to support the new play equipment said: "I would just like to say thank you to the town council for installing the zipwire and the swing.

"My children absolutely love them and it has brought a new lease of life to the park for the older children.

"We went to the park both days at the weekend and the queue to use the zipwire was nearly ten deep both times.

"All kids were thoroughly enjoying it so it would appear to be a huge success."

Councillor Nicola Linacre, the town’s Mayor, said: "It’s lovely to see residents’ wishes fulfilled and for this already very popular park to be upgraded.

"I hope Harpenden residents - children, parents and young people - will get a lot of enjoyment out of this for many years to come."
