A group of environmental campaigners in St Albans are holding a public meeting to discuss economic problems in the city.
The St Albans branch of Friends of the Earth is holding the evening to debate environmentally sustainable solutions on Tuesday, July 3.
Amanda Yorwerth, from St Albans Friends of the Earth, will chair next week’s meeting.
She said: "In these cash-strapped times a lot of people have forgotten about the environment.
"It is not surprising when many of us are fighting to make ends meet or looking for a job.
"We wanted to see if there was a solution to both the problems of environmental and economic sustainability."
Restaurateur Andrei Lussmann, Ben Skyes from The Carbon Trust and Stuart Duncan from Sustrans will speak during the meeting.
Ms Yorwerth added: "We’ve got together a panel of speakers who are all renowned experts in their fields to give us some of their ideas.
"We’re hoping as many people as possible will come along and ask questions and feed in their ideas."
The meeting, which is open to all residents, will take place in St Paul’s Church in Hatfield Road from 7.30pm.
