A MUM from Harpenden has been given a 12 month community order after admitting to child neglect.
St Albans Crown Court heard on Friday, July 22, how the intoxicated mother fell asleep after putting her 18-month-old daughter to bed and failed to wake up when the child got out of bed.
The tot then used a toy box to climb out of a window onto a sloping roof, the court was told, before falling off and injuring her face.
The mum had told police, after her daughter was discovered by a postman in the early hours of March 18 this year, that she had been drinking that night.
She was given a 12-month community order and she will be subject to a three-month curfew, to remain at home between 7pm and 7am.
Social services have arranged for the child to stay with its grandmother and the mother has daily access.
