THE mother of a St Albans schoolboy, who was clipped on the head by a car wing mirror as he attempted to cross the road, is hoping for witnesses to come forward with information.
Nesta Nott said as her 12-year-old son John came out to cross Waverley Road, from Ladies Grove, he slightly leaned down to the left to see if any cars were approaching from the Batchwood Drive roundabout.
The Parmiter's School pupil told his mum how, at around 4.30pm on Thursday, April 4, in moments the wing mirror of a car driving down Waverley Road clipped his head “taking him off his feet”.
He suffered minor injuries to his head and face, including cuts and bruises, as a result of the incident.
Mrs Nott, of Green Lane, added: “He said he was only leaning forward a little bit, he couldn't believe the wing mirror hit him because it was a normal saloon car.
“A couple of people did come over and help him, so I'm hoping they will come forward with details of the car.
“John was pretty stunned at the time so he didn't take note of what car it was."
Mrs Nott said although the driver, who John described as being angry, did get out of the car he soon got back in and drove off.
Also the 12-year-old said a lady in a small black car asked if he needed help, and Mrs Nott is hoping she can come forward with information on the car.
