A baby kestrel which fell from its nest in woodland in St Albans underwent a 30-minute operation at an animal hospital.
The bird, thought to be about four weeks old, was taken to St Tiggywinkles wildlife hospital in Buckinghamshire where his broken leg was rebuilt.
