THE chief executive of St Albans District Council has praised staff and residents following the results of a Government survey which were published yesterday.
The Audit Commission released the findings of its Comprehensive Area Assessment inspection in which the district council was found to be performing “adequately”.
Although it was noted the council could do better, many areas such as leisure and arts services were praised.
Daniel Goodwin said: “This assessment is a positive reflection of the council's continuing commitment to improvement against a more challenging and harder test than the previous CPA assessment.
“This is something we would not have been able to achieve without the involvement of residents and other local organisations.”
He added: “Importantly the assessment also shows ways we can improve further and I look forward to working with our partners to put these into action and to move even closer to our ambition of achieving excellence.”
