INTERNAL auditors probing the district council's management of its computer equipment failed to present a report of its findings, it has been revealed.
The district council's chief executive Daniel Goodwin revealed at a cabinet meeting last night that internal auditors failed to disclose the outcome of an investigation in May into the control of computer equipment at the district council offices.
The reason for this failure is yet to be established.
The revelation emerged following the alleged theft of four laptops, one containing 14,673 names, addresses and signatures of postal voters, from the district council offices in October.
Leader of St Albans Tory group councillor Julian Daly said: "The more you look, the worse it gets."
