YOUTH councillors in Welwyn Hatfield have been helping to bring a festive cheer to the elderly today.
Residents at the Jim McDonald centre in Hatfield were treated to their meals being dished up by the volunteers.
In between revision classes and exams youth councillors are joining dedicated members at the Highview centre to serve up Christmas meals between noon and 2pm three days a week.
Laura Heasman, a youth councillor, said: “We thought it would be a great opportunity for us to do something different in the community.
“These lunches are a great chance for us to explain to come of the older members of the community the good work that is being done by young people. It's good fun too.”
The Jim McDonald centre invites elderly residents in the borough to meet new people, take part in activities and have a lunchtime meal.
