THE athletics team at Oaklands College beat off tough competition to hold onto their top sporting title.
Sixteen universities and four colleges took part in the competition and the St Albans team dominated with a record number of medals including three gold, seven silver and three bronze.
The college won the Southern England Students Sports Association award for the third year in a row.
Renowned universities such as Imperial, Oxford and Cambridge lost most of the medals to Oaklands College.
Mark Dawe, principal and chief executive at Oaklands, said: “We are very proud of the exceptional standard of our sporting students.
“The results are testament to the hard work of the athletes and the guidance and support structure in place from within the Athletics Academy.
“We are on target to achieve our goal to produce athletes that regularly compete at both national and international levels.”
