HARPENDEN and Hitchin MP Peter Lilley released copies of his expenses claims to the Review today, revealing that he has claimed more than £6,000 in one year on repairs in his second home.
An additional costs allowance document, seen by the Review, shows Mr Lilley, whose main home is in Hitchin (approximately 40 miles away from Westminster), has claimed mortgage interest of around £12,500 a year on a second home in London in the last three years.
It is unclear whether Mr Lilley was living in the house before 1997 when he represented St Albans. The Review has requested clarification.
Claims Mr Lilley made between 2007 and 2008 include £3,407 for a replacement boiler, £1,668 for renovating a shower and £1,185 for window repairs.
