Teams can channel their inner Sherlock Holmes this September as the first ever Great St Albans Challenge will see teams race around the city in an interactive treasure hunt.
Starting and finishing at St Albans Cathedral, the challenge will be GPS led, with participants using their mobile phones to find hotspots to complete tasks throughout the day.
Teams can start any time between 11.30am and 12.30pm on Sunday, September 29, and have a two-and-a-half hour window to complete the challenge, which wraps up at 3pm.
The day will be concluded with a prize giving ceremony at the cathedral, with the winners receiving their trophies and every participant receiving a commemorative medal.
Tech company Wildgoose has launched the challenge to raise money for St Albans charity Youth Talk, which aims to provide free counselling and support to 13 to 25 year olds.
Peter Barker, operations director at Wildgoose, said: "As a proud local business with a global reach, we understand the significance and importance of giving back to our community.
"We're thrilled to launch the inaugural 'The Great St Albans Challenge' as an exciting opportunity for local people to enjoy a great day out whilst showcasing St Albans and supporting such a deserving charity too.”
The goal is to raise £10,000 for Youth Talk.

The charity's chief executive David Barker, said: “I can't begin to tell you how excited we are about the Great St Albans Challenge.
"Not only will it be a fabulously fun afternoon for residents, businesses or organisations across the district of St Albans, but it will play a vital part in supporting our young people and the work of Youth Talk - win, win!”
The day will be sponsored by the Maltings Shopping Centre, and its centre manager Richard Marrett, said: "We are delighted to sponsor The Great St Albans Challenge as part of our commitment to support the local community through the valuable work of Youth Talk.”
Registration is open now at www.charitychallenge.events and an early bird offer of £40 per team is running until the end of August.
