Plans have been submitted for two new homes to be created at the rear of an existing property in St Albans.
If accepted, two semi-detached dwellings would be created behind 40 Grosvenor Road, a building currently being used for flats.
The flats would remain at the site, with the new homes constructed following the demolition of a store at the rear.
The dwellings would be staggered, reflecting the change in land levels between Grosvenor Road and London Road.
A wooded area will form a shared communal space to the rear of the proposed dwellings.
A planning statement included within the application reads: "The external appearance of the dwellings follows a contemporary design, set over two levels.
"The frontage of the property would present itself as single-story to Grosvenor Road, and the rear of the property would present itself as two-storey to London Road.

"The design of the proposed scheme is such that it would enhance the green character of the edge of the site, is respectful to the nearby development, and would cause no detriment to the locally listed building, wider conservation area or to the residential amenities of the neighbouring occupiers."
