A machete was seized after armed police were called to a street in St Albans yesterday afternoon.
Sandpit Lane, near the junction with Sandridge Road was locked down by officers at around 4.55pm(May 24).
Hertfordshire Constabulary says officers had been called to reports of a man with a weapon.
Armed units responded a property in Sandpit Lane was searched. Police have confirmed a machete was seized.
There were no reports of any injuries.
A man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon, police confirmed.
The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact 101 quoting ISR 538 of May 24.
