A motorist has died after they crashed into a tree in Wheathampstead last night.
Hertfordshire Constabulary says it was called to reports of a collision in Nomansland at 8.39pm (March 12).
Police, who were joined at the scene by paramedics and the fire service, say the crash involved a Volvo S60 and a tree.
The man driving the Volvo died at the scene, police said.
An investigation into the fatal collision has been launched with work taking place overnight by accident investigators.
Nomansland reopened at around 3.30am.
Officers are appealing for information and witnesses to the collision, or for any dashcam footage of the Volvo, prior to the crash.
