A runner is closing in on a world record 1,000 official marathons - averaging a race every 13 days over the last 34 years.
Steve Edwards is seeking to become the first person ever to achieve the milestone in such a quick time.
The endurance athlete, 59, ran three hours and 40 minutes at Rickmansworth Aquadrome in February this year as part of his overall tally of 925.
He also ran another three hours 38 minutes marathon in February and ran two other marathons elsewhere in January.
Mr Edwards, who lives in the Cotswolds, is slowly but surely counting down to what would be a monumental achievement in the marathon running world.
He ran his first in 1981 aged just 18, but little did Mr Edwards know that was the first of a marathon running career that now spans 42 years.
He originally wanted to achieve the record by his 60th birthday, but after injury and Covid lockdown setbacks now aims to reach 1,000 marathons by 62.
The grandfather-of-three still holds the British record for the most sub three hour 15 minute marathons (325) and the world record for the most sub three hour 30 minute marathons (801).
Mr Edwards is currently fundraising for Kate’s Home Nursing charity. You can donate at: justgiving.com/fundraising/teamedwards1000
