Police have issued a CCTV image after a man spoke to a 12-year-old girl in a sexual manner in St Albans.
The child was walking with three friends in Catherine Street eastwards from the pedestrian crossing when the man spoke to her.
PC Daniel Auchincloss, who is investigating, said the victim was "very shaken" and ran with her friends onto St Peter's Street.
He added: "The offender’s behaviour was completely unacceptable and we are working hard to trace him.
“We believe the person pictured was in the area at the time and he could have vital information that might assist our enquiries."
Anyone who recognises him or has information has been urged to call non-emergency number 101 quoting reference 41/81803/21.
