Police have appealed for witnesses after a man in his 70s was hit by a car in St Albans and suffered serious head injuries.
The crash involving a blue Skoda and the pedestrian happened on Hill End Lane near the Spar just after 5.30pm yesterday (Tuesday, November 2).
Police closed the road to allow emergency services to attend and the pedestrian was taken to hospital.
The Skoda driver was uninjured and remained at the scene.
Officers from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Road Policing Unit (BCH RPU) are now investigating the circumstances.
PC Ian Cornfield said: “Though the man’s injuries are serious, he is currently in a stable condition in hospital.
"He was crossing the road from the Spar shop when the collision occurred.
“We are now appealing for any witnesses who have not already spoken to us to come forward.
"Any information you have, even if you feel it’s insignificant, could be hugely helpful to our investigation."
Anyone driving nearby at the time who may have dash cam footage or a doorbell camera has been urged to contact officers.
Information can be reported online or via non-emergency number 101 quoting reference 508 of 2 November.
