Motorists are being warned of long delays of up to 25 minutes.
Hertfordshire County Council Highways said the delays are on the A4147 Hemel Hempstead Road in St Albans on approach to King Harry Lane.

HCC Highways and the police have been asked for more information.

A spokesperson for HCC Highways said no specific incident has caused these delays, that it is just a build up of traffic on the road.
Hertfordshire constabulary said they could not find any police incidents that might explain it either.
