A motorist managed to escape with minor injuries after his Mazda careered across three lanes on the M25 and collided with a lorry.
The crash on the eastbound stretch yesterday by junction 22 caused traffic back towards Watford to be stopped as emergency services dealt with the scene.
BCH Road Policing Unit tweeted about the "lucky escape" for the Mazda 2 driver.
"He lost control in lane 4 hit the central reserve then speared across to lane 1 into a HGV," officers tweeted.
"Slight injury only, thanks to the car & HGV safety equipment."
A Herts Police spokesperson added: "Police were called at 7.44am on Sunday (13 June) to report a road traffic collision on the M25 eastbound carriageway prior to junction 22.
"A Mazda 2 and a lorry had been in collision.
"The Mazda driver, a man, suffered minor injuries.
"Traffic was stopped while the vehicles were recovered."
