St Albans Museum + Gallery has officially reopened today amid the latest easing of lockdown restrictions.
Verulamium Museum will also throw open its doors with new Covid-secure measures – which include visitors checking in on the NHS Covid app when they arrive and wearing face coverings whilst indoors.
Visitors will to St Albans Museum + Gallery will be treated to three new exhibitions.
They include Behind the Mask, which celebrates 40 years of innovation, and Lockdown Life – displaying how people in St Albans have responded to lockdown’s challenges.
There will also be an exhibit called Pandemic Portraits – which will involve a short film being displayed in the Timeline Gallery of the museum.
To avoid disappointment visitors are encouraged to book ahead via the museum website.
Tickets for both venues are available now.
Councillor Anthony Rowlands, portfolio holder for leisure, heritage and public realm, said: “I am so glad to see our museums reopening fully for visitors once again, although there have been many digital outputs, there is nothing quite like experiencing heritage and culture in person.
“The team at St Albans museums have worked hard to put together new exhibitions and to revamp much-loved displays across both sites. This is a moment of great joy and I hope everyone is as excited as I am to visit the museums once more.”
St Albans Museum + Gallery is free for visitors and will reopen on Monday May 17 and will be open every day 11am – 5pm.
Verulamium Museum is a charged-for museum, but St Albans residents can enter for free.
