Detectives are investigating an assault on a man which left him with a fractured cheekbone.
The attack happened at around 6pm on January 12 in Riverside Road on the outskirts of St Albans city centre.
Police say the victim was chased by three men near the junction with Cornwall Road before being assaulted.
He suffered a fractured cheekbone and split lip but police say the victim cannot remember how the injuries were sustained.
Officers are now appealing for any witnesses who may be able to shed light on the assault to come forward.
Detective Constable Mark Chipchase, who is investigating, said: "I’m appealing for anyone who was in the Riverside Road area around the time of the incident and saw anything suspicious, which could assist with this investigation, to get in touch.
"The victim suffered head injuries and cannot recall details of the incident and so we are keen to piece together the circumstances of what happened."
Anyone with information can contact DC Chipchase by emailing mark.chipchase@herts.pnn.police.uk quoting crime reference 41/2796/21.
