Numerous emergency services attended the scene including the air ambulance, and Redbourn Road was closed for several hours.

Officers investigating the crash have launched an appeal for witnesses.

Sergeant Tim Davies, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire road policing unit, said: "The incident occurred at a busy time with lots of traffic on the road.

"I would like to speak to anyone who saw the incident and has not yet spoken to police. Or if you have dash cam footage of the incident, or of the circumstances leading up to the incident, please get in touch as soon as possible."
