This October half term, pumpkins are in ready supply at a local farm near London Colney where children are being encouraged to pick and take home one of the 25,000 pumpkins on offer.
Willows Activity Farm, situated in the Hertfordshire countryside, is set to kick off their annual Pumpkin Festival from Saturday, October 19, to Sunday, November 3.
The festival will feature the carving cavern where children can carve their pumpkins without their parents having to worry about the mess, with pumpkin-themed arts and crafts activities for both young and old. There will also be a daily competition with a prize for the best carved pumpkin.
In addition, this year’s festival will include the arrival of a stegosaurus, triceratops and allosaurus in the Dinosaur Invasion Programme. These prehistoric guests will be appearing in the events marquee every day alongside a dinosaur puppet show and opportunities for visitors to meet the dinosaur babies.
The farm regularly features activities related to the animated Cbeebies series, Peter Rabbit, who, alongside his friends, will be on stage every day at Willows performing their special shows, including one, Seasons, written specially for this year’s Pumpkin Festival.
Kevin McIllmurray, general manager at Willows Activity Farm, said: “Our annual Pumpkin Festival is always a really colourful event at the farm. The pumpkin patch is the perfect backdrop for family photos at this time of year and we love seeing our younger guests getting creative with their pumpkin picks.
“The arrival of dinosaurs this year is a first for us at Willows. We wanted to add something completely different to 2019’s half term fun and dinosaurs are always hugely popular with young families, so we hope our guests enjoy the new prehistoric shows.”
