A fashion and interiors shop that opened in 2010 has been named as one of the top 100 small businesses by Small Business Saturday UK.
Chloe James Lifestyle, named after the children of its proprietor Donna Nichol, offers unusual gifts, jewellery, home and fashion products.
Donna, from St Albans, said: “We opened in a recession and have weathered the double dip so it has been tough – it is not possible to survive by just filling a shop with lovely things and opening the doors. We try to offer the best possible customer service and an all-round lovely shopping experience. Thankfully, this has resulted in a very loyal customer base who are happy to introduce their friends.
“I was absolutely delighted that we were chosen as one of this year’s Small Biz 100. I am very proud of my business and have worked incredibly hard to make it what it is today and a little bit of recognition is always nice.”
The list was created by Small Business Saturday UK, a non-political, non-commercial campaign that seeks to foster support for small businesses from within their communities, both on Saturdays and beyond.
Each business listed is promoted one day each leading up to Small Business Saturday on December 3. The initiative started in 2010 in the US and has reportedly generated a lot of custom for small businesses; the campaign is now in its fourth year in the UK.
