A swim school is puddling to success this month as it marks two years since its doors first opened.
Over the last two years, Puddle Ducks, run by business woman Ravneet Bermi has seen hundreds of parents and children come through its classes in St Albans, Harpenden and other nearby towns.
Ms Bermi, a mum of two who lives in St Albans, swapped her makeup and heels for a swimsuit and goggles after giving up a career in the city to pursue running a business which offered more flexible working around her young family.
She said: “I was working 11 hour days as a business manager in the city and although making money for other people was very lucrative it was not making me happy.
“It broke my heart leaving my baby in nursery all day, I felt like I hardly ever saw her.
“The highlight of my week was taking my daughter to swimming lessons.
“I thought that running a Puddle Ducks franchise would be fulfilling and rewarding and would allow me to work around my children.
“I decided to take the plunge to pursue my dream just a few months after the birth of my second daughter and Puddle Ducks West Herts and South Beds was born.”
To celebrate two years of success, Puddle Ducks is planning some special workshops for expectant parents and there will be celebrations in all of their classes with a special guest appearance – Puddle the Duck.
Ms Bermi added: “I have absolutely loved meeting our customers over the last two years and I am looking forward to welcoming many more people into our classes in the future.
“We want every child to love swimming, respect the water and swim beautifully.
“That’s why our standards are the highest and our approach is unique.”
Puddle Ducks is also currently looking to expand its classes to new and neighbouring areas.
Ms Bermi said: “If you are looking to run your own business, I would definitely consider franchising as it’s a great way to balance running a business around your family.”
