Police are hunting a man believed to be connected to the theft of around £1,000 of fuel at Sainsbury’s petrol stations.
Between April and October this year there have been nine offences at London Colney and three in Stevenage.
On each occasion the offender has driven up to the pump and filled up the car before filling petrol cans on the back seat.
Hertfordshire Constabulary has released updated CCTV images of a man they would like to speak with as part of its investigation.
Assistant Investigator Becky Outston said: “We believe the offences have been carried out by the same person and are occurring mainly between 10am and 3pm.
“On each occasion the offender fills the vehicle with the maximum amount of fuel before filling petrol cans and in total around £1,000 of fuel has been taken.”
Between April and July the car involved was a blue Citroen Picasso but more recently a white Ford Transit or white VW Caddy van has been used.
Hertfordshire Constabulary has also released video footage of one of the thefts.
Assistant Investigator Ouston is also warning the offender that by carrying cans of fuel this way he could be outing himself and others in danger if he were to be involved in a crash.
