1. Two Russian Fairytales
Students at Aboyne Lodge School present their re-telling of two classic Russian folk tales, The Stolen Turnips and Baba Yaga. With wicked witches, cruel stepmothers and the triumph of good over evil, this puppet show, featuring marionettes hand-made by the pupils, is good old-fashioned entertainment.

2. Dr John Cooper Clarke
The poet, rock star, comedian and social commentator brings his satirical verse to St Albans. Delivered in his rapid-fire performance style, John’s verse is as relevant now as it was during the punk movement of the 1970s. His long career has seen him tour with bands such as The Sex Pistols, The Clash and Buzzcocks.

3. The Alban Pilgrimage
The biggest event on St Albans Cathedral’s calendar, this year’s pilgrimage welcomes the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend Justin Welby, and the Archbishop of Rouen, Mgr Jean-Charles Descubes. A colourful parade will wind its way through the city to mark the martyrdom of Saint Alban.

4. Status Quo
Legendary rockers Status Quo are coming to Hatfield for one night of nostalgia this weekend. The band, who have sold more than 118 million records world-wide, released their latest album, Aquostic, in 2014.

5. Alban Street Festival
Get ready to party in St Peter’s Street as a host of local bands and performers congregate for the annual knees-up. Along with food stalls, face painters and craft activities, a rock choir sing-along, as well as a beach area with a Punch and Judy show, real sand, deck chairs and fish and chips.
