A busking event held in honour of St Albans’ legendary accordion man has changed location.
Originally due to be held outside The Clock Tower, the event on July 4 will take place between W H Smith and Champney's.
For more than 35 years, John ‘Paddy’ Delaney was a regular fixture the store on the High Street, where he played everything from old classics to nursery rhymes, as well as special requests from his audiences.
Mr Delaney, known for his quirky outfits and cheerful disposition, passed away at the end of last month.
Members of a Facebook appreciation page started an online petition, urging the district council to create a memorial stone. The petition closes on May 14. To sign, click here.
Review readers have been sending in their tributes for Mr Delaney. Mr and Mrs LeRoux said: "I have profound memory of this marvellous man and his music. He was always happy to play with a French flare and made many people happy at St Albans' creperie.
"He was a figure of St Albans and brought lot of joy for people walking along the street playing tunes you would sing along doing your shopping.
"It is a very sad loss."
Katherine Hann said: "I had the pleasure of being an immediate neighbour to Paddy and Merril in the 1990s.
"He was a man that lit up the world with his infectious humour and enthusiasm as well as his many talents, especially musical.
"He will be sorely missed. I was so sad to hear that such a full life had ended.
"But he leaves a remarkable legacy through his large and loving family."
The event on July 4 will take place between 11am and 4pm.
