Tenancy deposits in St Albans over the last year were 67 per cent more expensive than the average for England and Wales, new figures show.
By law landlords must submit deposits from tenants to an authorised tenancy deposit protection scheme, and those submitted to The Deposit Protection Service (The DPS) for properties with St Albans postcodes between March 2014 and February 2015 averaged £1,368.73 - £549.38 more than the national average of £819.35.
The figures for St Albans were only £353.23 less on average than tenancy deposits within the most expensive area, London (£1,721.96).
