Police were called to a farm in St Albans last night after reports of suspicious activity.
Hertfordshire Constabulary confirmed they were called by a member of the public at 1.16am to Hedges Farm in North Orbital Road.
There were reports of unknown cars having driven into the yard before driving off.
Dog units and the police helicopter were used in the search for the occupants of the cars but no one was found.
No arrests have been made.
Anyone with information should call police on 101.
