A Lib Dem activist has teamed up with artists at the University of Hertfordshire to create Adventures in Tory Land.
Katie Barron, who has been canvassing in St Albans since 2009, will painting a series of portraits of voters on their door steps.
Ms Barron has a number of books, and the characters depicted in them she says are based on people she has met.
"The stangest bits are the truest," she said.
"It was wonderful meeting my illustrator, Asbjorn Gundersen. Even though he's Norwegian and has only been living here a few years, he seemed to understand exactly what I meant with each character portrait."
Adventures in Tory Land: Democracy in Middle England is available through Amazon.co.uk.
