A teenager has raised more than £2,000 for a "once in a lifetime" volunteering trip to Ecuador this summer.
Charlotte Clarke, 16, has held cake sales, car boot sales and other fundraising activities to work towards her £5,000 target.
The Marlborough Science Academy pupil and a group of her classmates will spend a month in the South American country living rough in tents and hostels before completing a community project in a school.
The trip, organised by UK-based company World Challenge, will require the young people to work together to plan treks, buy food and essentials, cook their meals, book accommodation, use maps to navigate and more.
Charlotte said she was looking forward to working in the school teaching Maths and English and leading activities such as dancing.
She said: "I am very lucky to be offered this opportunity and I am very honored to participate.
"This will be a once in a lifetime experience. I would truly love to be able to really see for myself how much of a difference money and aid can make to those who need it the most.
"I got all my equipment today including a 70 litre bag to carry on my back and a smaller one to carry on front. I have had six injections so far and I have more to go, as well as malaria tablets to take."
Charlotte is planning more fundraising for the future to reach her goal. To help her click here.
