More than £1,500 of damage was caused to a St Albans home when it was burgled whilst its occupants were away.
Police are appealing for information after the house in Woodstock Road North was broken into between Saturday March 14 and Sunday March 22.
The offender forced open a window at the rear of the property before stealing a number of items including several items of jewellery including a man’s Sekonda wristwatch and a replica Princess Diana engagement ring.
The ring is silver with a large, oval faux sapphire stone, which is surrounded by diamonds in a flower design.
The damage to the property caused by the break-in was in excess of £1,500.
Detective Constable Stuart Alexander from the St Albans Local Crime Unit is investigating and said: “The ring looks distinctive and would be easily recognisable.
“It’s possible the offender will try and sell this on and I would ask anyone who is offered it for sale or comes across it to contact me as soon as possible.
“Equally, if anyone saw anything unusual or suspicious in the area between the dates the burglary occurred please let me know as this information may prove useful to my investigation.”
Anyone with information contact DC Alexander via Hertfordshire Constabulary’s non-emergency number 101, quoting crime reference F1/15/1007.
