A nursery in St Albans has been nominated for a national award by a parent of a child who attends.
Busy Bees in St Albans City Hospital has been put forward for a Pearson Teaching Award by the mother of a little boy who is cared for in the nursery's baby room.
Faye Dutton, the nursery manager, said: "The first I heard about our nomination was when Pearson contacted me and we were all thrilled. The mum had named some staff members who particularly shone through for her.
"The little boy hasn't been coming to us for very long, but has settled in well and we're really happy that mum has seen that.
"It's a testament to our key worker system, which helps the transition into the nursery setting."
The mum's testimonial for the award nomination said: "Thank you so much Louise for all your hard work and support in making Stan's transition into nursery as pleasant as possible.
"We really appreciate your overwhelming kindness towards Stan and your patience with us calling every time he is with you. He smiles when he hears your name and is obviously comforted by you.
"We feel very happy and relieved that we have someone that is dedicated to his development and his happiness to leave him with each week.
"Everyone at Busy Bees has been so understanding and supportive and we would just like to say thank you."
The winners will be announced at a ceremony in London in October.
