Police officers are taking to the streets in St Albans in a different way tonight to raise money for charity.
Three officers from the Children and Young People Team will be taking part in a sponsored Sleep Out at St Albans Abbey.
The event aims to raise awareness and funds to help vulnerable people affected by homelessness.
Sergeant Kim Seddon, along with PCSOs Charlotte Tizard and Danielle Tubby, will be spending a night under the stars in the Abbey grounds.
PCSO Tizard said: "The idea is to sleep out in the Abbey grounds for one night with no shelter to understand the fact that some people aren't fortunate enough to have a warm and safe place to stay at night.
"Through our work with young people we have worked in partnership with Herts Young Homeless and supported young people and families in accessing the wide range of services that the charity has to offer.
"Having heard such positive feedback from the young people who have accessed the services we actively support and promote the charity and the fantastic work that they do."
