Author Sue Hampton visited pupils at Townsend C of E school last week.
The Year 7 and 9 students at were read through the first chapter of her new book "Thinner than Water".
Sue then spoke to all of year 7, showing them her brand new website and explaining the different books she has written and how she began writing. The talk was followed by a book signing at lunchtime, where Sue chatted to students from all years about writing and her books.
Year 7 student William said: "I really enjoyed the talk. It was interesting to hear about Sue's life and the troubles she has faced. It was also fun looking at her website with the different book covers and guessing what genre the books were just from their cover."
Year 7 Laila said "It was good to hear that Sue didn't care what others thought of her - she still valued herself. It was interesting to hear her speak about her alopecia and the story she'd written, Waterhouse Girl, using that as inspiration."
Sue is the school’s author of the month for December.
