The first-ever students exhibition held by St Albans Camera Club was such a "resounding success" that an even bigger and better event is planned for next year.
Last Thursday saw the launch of the event at the Museum of St Albans, which features 40 prints chosen to be exhibited, hanging alongside works by camera club members.
More than 120 prints were submitted from the district's secondary schools, Oaklands College and the University of Hertfordshire and the overall winner was second year university photographic student Sarah Bennett for her black and white print entitled Bowl Skater.
Sarah said: "I feel that winning the St Albans Camera Club competition has been my biggest achievement so far and I am really looking forward to my masterclass."
Sarah was congratulated by Councillor Annie Brewster, portfolio holder for sports, heritage and leisure and trustee of the St Albans Museums and Galleries Trust. She won a photography masterclass with Donato Cinicolo is StAlbans-based photography and film company Dc3..art.
Camera club chairman Steve Else said: "The event was a resounding success - it was a very successful evening. We plan to hold a similar and even bigger event next year."
The exhibition can be seen at the Museum of St Albans in Hatfield Road until January 9.
