More than 2,000 fixed penalty notices were issued for driving offences in St Albans last year, new figures have shown.
Road safety charity Brake released figures this week, as it launched its Road Safety Week.
Across the borough, 2,296 fixed penalty notices were issued for speeding and 30 for careless driving, which became a fixed penalty offence in August 2013.
The borough’s worst postcode was AL01, which covers St Albans, with a total of 513 offences in 2013.
The most careful drivers can be found in AL02, which had 397 penalties for careless driving or speeding.
Last week, The St Albans Central, North and West Safer Neighbourhood team identified speeding ‘hotspots’ as Batchwood Drive, The Ridgeway and Cottonmill Lane.
