A new inpatient hospital for people with mental ill health and learning disabilities will fully open this week after four years of planning and a £42million investment.
Kingfisher Court, which opened its first two wards in June this year, is based at the Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust's (HPFT) Kingsley Green site near Radlett.
This week, the final three wards, Owl, Robin and Dove, will open to admissions with service users being transferred from inpatient units in Watford and the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital in Welwyn.
Kingfisher Court will provide 86 beds with wards that specialise in acute adult mental health care, mental health care for adults who may be frail or vulnerable, and assessment and treatment for people with a learning disability.
