The Michael Green Foundation raised £8,000 in just one night, and donated a further £10,000 to the diabetes centre at Watford General Hospital.
The charity was set up by Joanne Green, 52, of Park Street, who lost her husband, Michael, in December 2012. Michael died from a silent heart attack - a complication of having type 2 diabetes.
The Michael Green Foundation aims to raise awareness of type two diabetes and the dangers of it, as well as raising money for the Michael Clements Diabetes Centre.
The centre has specilists who help patients manage their diabetes as well as a research unit.
On Sunday, the charity held a supper quiz night at the Village Hotel in Elstree and 180 guests turned up to support the cause.
The event hosted a combination of dinner and quiz rounds, an auction, which included items such as an ipad mini, a Kindle Fire HD and a signed photo of the Arsenal team, donanted by guests and businesses. There was also a raffle, which raised £1,200.
Joanne said: "We are just so greatful for the support and the sponsorhip we have had. Sunday's event was probably the best event have held so far.
"The evening just flowed, people had fun as well as learnt learnt about the charity and why they were there."
The event also saw the launch of a short video, which aims to promote the symptoms of type 2 diabetes.
